a) The Universe

        All of the cosmos are full of big and small wonders. We don’t know what to admire more, the immense size and speed of movement of the stars or the wonderful make up of an atom. Did you know that there are a total of about 200,000 trillion stars in the universe, and that the earth moves at 30km/sec?

        It is enough to just look at the universe which surrounds us to understand that it couldn’t have been made alone, or by chance. The whole universe shows God’s creating hand.

b) The world and mankind

        In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. God created all things out of nothing, with wisdom and kindness, and he entrusted them to man, who he created in his own image and likeness.

        God also created a large army of angels (only spiritual beings) in order to guard over man during his time on earth, and so that he could do God’s will.

c) Original Sin

        God is not a distant God, but rather a loving and close father. And if God is our father, we are God’s children. But, many times, men don’t behave like this, and they seriously offend their creator. This had happened to Adam and Eve, our first parents.

        Evil:

-is a mystery which is the opposite of God, although he allows it,
-causes suffering throughout the world.

        In the world, evil emanates from Satan (Lucifer, the snake), once prince of the angels who became the enemy because he wanted to be like God. He seduces men (i.e. Adam and Eve) to:

-sin against God,
-use things disorderly.

d) God’s Providence

        God lovingly takes care of all men, in spite of the existence of the devil, evil and sin. God knows everything that happens and always finds some benefit from it for us. He never forgets us. He looks out for our own good whatever it takes. This providence shows us that God is:

-a pure spirit. God is not at all material, nor is he made up of different parts;
-one and only. If there were more than one God, then he wouldn’t be God;
-eternal. He hasn’t got a beginning or an end, a before or an after;
-all knowing. God is all powerful and can do anything he wants;
-wise. God knows everything and nothing gets past him;
-true. God doesn’t lie and can’t deceive us;
-good and merciful. God l
oves us and only wants good things for us, forever and tirelessly.
