a) Geography of Israel

b) Fullness of Times

All of the promises that God had made to the old prophets were going to be fulfilled. Now, with the arrival of the fullness of times, God will place his hopes on a young woman who from the beginning had protected herself against all sin so that she could be the mother of the Savior.

This woman was Mary, wedded to a man called Joseph, who descended from the lineage of David. This is how the son of God became man in the pure womb of the Virgin Mary. He, who was always God, at the same time, became man.

Joseph was a fair young man, kind to everyone, honest and hard working. He loved and served God, and was always faithful to his wife, Mary.

This is how the Holy Family was formed, with Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

c) Adolescence of Jesus

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, an event which divides the history of the world in half. This happened when Caesar Augustus was the emperor of the Roman Empire.

Jesus grew up physically and in grace in the city of Nazareth, where Mary was from. There he learned how to be a carpenter following Joseph’s profession.

When he turned twelve years old, his parents took him to the temple in Jerusalem to be presented to the teachers of the law. He was lost for three days, and when his mother found him, still in the temple, Jesus responded that he had to take care of his Father’s business there.

In this way, Jesus lived anonymously in Nazareth until he was thirty years old, teaching us how to do our work and our every day family life holy.

d) Public life of Jesus

At the age of thirty, Jesus began to make himself known as the son of God, the Savior of the world. First, he was baptized by John the Baptist, at which time Jesus professed himself to be the long awaited Messiah. After being baptized in the river Jordan, Jesus took refuge in the desert in order to be tempted by the devil.

He was tempted thrice in the desert of Judah, by worldly things, the devil and flesh. After this, Jesus went to the Tiberius Lake to call his twelve apostles, who symbolized the twelve tribes of Israel.

Finally, after three years of intense teachings and great miracles which guaranteed that he was God, Jesus was condemned to death because the Pharisees were jealous of him.
